Always wanted to draw, but don’t know where to start or thought you ‘can’t draw’?
Have you bought some materials, but lack the confidence to get them out of the wrapper?
I believe that drawing is a skill that can be learnt by anyone with a little practice, encouragement and determination.
Now in its 8th year, the beginners drawing course has helped many people discover a new pastime or re-awaken their enthusiasm.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, looking to return to art or would like to practise with a group, I hope this course will be both helpful and enjoyable.

About the course
The course will be informal and, I hope, fun. There is usually a short presentation or practical demonstration, followed by plenty of time to work at your own pace. There is a progressive structure, so each week aims to introduce different things to try out.
We'll look at basics such as proportion, shading, perspective and still-life, working in pencil, graphite, ink and charcoal to give plenty of time to grasp the basics of drawing and try out new materials..
The main language is English, but if they can forgive my French, I would welcome any French speakers.
Dates & Times
The course will run for 6 weeks on a Tuesday afternoon from 13:30 to 16:30 with a short break for tea/coffee around 15:00. The course will start on 24/10/2023 and finish on 28/11/2023.
Materials
All paper and drawing materials will be provided. You are of course welcome to bring any of your own materials should you wish. Some easels will be available for those who prefer to work with one, but if you have your own please bring it along.
